From Qom to Los Angeles: Iran's Blessed Banner Flies in Team Melli Locker Room

A blessed flag from the holy Jamkaran Mosque has journeyed from the spiritual heart of Iran to the locker room of the national football team in the United States, creating a powerful intersection of faith and professional sport on the international stage.

Hawzah News Agency- During the World Cup match between Iran and New Zealand in Los Angeles, the consecrated banner of the Holy Jamkaran Mosque was displayed in Team Melli's locker room at halftime, drawing the attention of players and coaching staff alike.

The flag was originally presented to head coach Amir Ghalenoei during his recent visit to the holy city of Qom by Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ali Akbar Ojaghnejad, custodian of the Holy Jamkaran Mosque.

Symbol of spiritual identity

Accompanying the banner was an image of martyr Mohammadzadeh, a footballer who fell during the Ramadan War, reinforcing the link between national sporting identity and the values of sacrifice and faith.

The presence of the flag thousands of kilometers from home served as a reminder of Team Melli's deep-rooted connection to the religious and cultural identity of the Iranian nation. Brought from the sacred courtyard of Jamkaran to the team's camp, it stood alongside Iran's representatives at one of the most prominent international football events, embodying the enduring bond between spirituality and professional athleticism on the global stage.
